Programs

We believe that education is a collaborative journey where parents, guardians, school staff and students work together to create an environment that fosters growth, learning and positive experiences. We are committed to building a strong sense of unity and support that goes beyond the classroom walls.

The MH Tobias PTO helps provide the students a diverse learning experience. We bring enriching and education programs and bridge funding for essential programs when the school budget falls short.

Detailed below are some of the major programs that the MH Tobias PTO sponsors through funding and/or volunteer efforts:

• Field Trips
  PTO provides funding for each grade level to go on multiple field trips each year.  This support pays for program and bus costs, eliminating the costs for the school and families.

• Supplemental Classroom Resources
  Each year, the MHT PTO orders school-wide subscriptions and materials to supplement classroom learning. This includes the Nicky's red homework folders, Scholastic News, Schoolmate Agendas for 4th & 5th Grade, Correct the Sentence, Words I Use When I Write and many others. 

• Classroom Funds
  Each year, the MHT PTO provides money for teachers to purchase supplies for their classrooms. Opportunities to raise more classroom funds are also provided throughout the year. These funds can be used by teachers for books, classroom supplies, classroom prizes and rewards, new class furniture, etc.

• Art in Action
  The MHT PTO fully funds and operates the Art in Action program for grades K-5. The Art in Action program provides art curriculum that builds students’ understanding of art as well as art skills. Based on masterpieces by famous artists, the program lessons develop basic art skills, teach the vocabulary of art, and build an appreciation of art. Skills and concepts are introduced, reviewed, and mastered through a variety of techniques and activities in class with their teachers and parent volunteers.

• Enrichment Classes
  The MHT PTO helps coordinates in-school enrichment programs to broaden and enrich the experiences of our children. Some of the current and past offerings have been LEAP dance, chorus,

• Staff Appreciation Events
  To show the MHT staff just how much we appreciate their efforts and dedication to our children, we provide numerous catered events throughout the year as a treat to the staff. We also celebrate each staff member's birthday with a small treat. The biggest appreciation event takes place during Teacher/Staff appreciation week where MHT PTO and parent volunteers curate a week's worth of special treats, events and activities for the teachers & staff.

• Sports
  The MHT PTO coordinates MHT specific teams through the City of Daly City. MHT PTO helps with collecting registrations, creating teams, ordering uniforms and recruiting volunteer coaches.

• Library Books & Classroom Library Books
  Through the Book Fair fundraising efforts, the MHT PTO is able to provide a budget to the librarian and the classroom teachers to purchase books for the library and classroom libraries, respectively.

• Gardening Program
  The MHT PTO plays an essential role in supporting our school's gardening program by organizing fundraising efforts, providing supplies, and recruiting volunteers. This support fosters a connection between students and nature, enhancing the overall educational experience while beautifying the school grounds.

• Outdoor Education
  The MHT PTO provides partial funding for the 5th grade Outdoor Education program. MHT PTO pays for bussing and offers a partial subsidy to all student's who attend Outdoor Education. Parent volunteers also help coordinate fundraising efforts to offset student costs and aid the teachers in collecting payments for the trip.
